The History and Experience of Orienteering
The history of orienteering began in the late 19th century in Sweden. The term “orienteering” was first used in 1886 and referred to crossing unknown terrain with the help of a map and compass. The first public orienteering competition took place in Norway in 1897.
Orienteering is a timed race in which participants start at intervals, are individually timed, and are expected to navigate independently. GPS devices of any kind are not allowed and must be removed before the event begins. Control points are marked on the orienteering map with small purple circles, where the control point may be located anywhere within the circle but is usually near the center. Each point must be visited in the order shown on the map. The ranking is determined by the fastest successful completion of the course.
At Mister S Tailored Events, we organize orienteering experiences on Mount Rajac. These activities are designed for beginners with no prior experience.
The goal is for participants to learn something new, enjoy themselves in nature while searching for “signs” or checkpoints, and develop teamwork skills in overcoming various obstacles. This experience combines outdoor adventure, mental challenge, and collaboration, making it a perfect team-building exercise in a scenic natural environment.
Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is much more than a recreational activity, it is a connection with nature, with the animal, and with yourself. It is a moment when you slow down, listen to the sound of the wind and the rhythm of the hooves, and allow yourself to experience the surroundings in an entirely different way.
Trail riding is a true adventure for everyone, children and adults, beginners and experienced riders alike. Every ride begins with getting to know your horse. Before heading out on the trail, you will learn how to approach the horse properly, how to interact with it, how to mount, and how to maintain the correct riding position. Instructors will explain the basics of control, how to hold the reins, give commands, keep your balance, and communicate with the horse.
If you have never ridden before, there is no need to worry. Before setting out, you will receive a short but thorough introduction that will help you feel confident and understand the horse’s movements. A guide walks alongside the riders, follows the pace of the group, and is there to assist at all times. The horses are calm, reliable, and accustomed to working with beginners.
